Imperial remains in Bottenago
Through a preliminary analysis of the area of ”Roccolino” (fig.1), plot of land located between the territory of Calvagese della Riviera (fraction of Carzago) and on the border with Bottenago (fraction of the municipality of Polpenazze), emerged as a quest The area contains archaeological finds hypothetically dating back to the I-IV century AD. An advanced date also on the basis of some findings of artefacts and coins, chronologically indicative of the imperial era.
An important find that embellishes the already particular history of that area, begun through historical memories with a 1808 conflict between the municipality of Carzago and Polpenazze. From the Napoleonic Cadastre of 1823 the dispute is resolved in favor of the municipality of Carzago (fig.2), but it will only be through the maps of the Royal Register of Italy of 1898 that the current border will be outlined. Currently, new investigations and new studies are already under way which, starting from an extended exploration phase, will have the delicate task of trying to bring to light new information on the archaeological finds of imperial Rome that was (Figure 4-5).
